Who Wants Bloat?
Why am I writing about bloat and digestion? After all, this is not a very sexy topic and does not sound particularly Badass. I will be talking about… ‘poo’. Because poo is important. But the bottom line is, if our bodies do not work correctly, we women do not feel good and definitely not sexy. We may have stomach cramps, headaches, irritability, pronounced allergy symptoms and more. And the bloat! Nothing feels less sexy than bloat! Our clothes feel uncomfortable and tight. Yes, these are all problems for men too. But as women with monthly cycles and menopause the bloat feels much more common and pronounced. Rarely do I hear a man say “I feel bloated today.” And, as we know, a man can go to the bathroom and be right as rain.
I Was a Mess
“If the gut isn’t healthy, you are at a standstill in terms of healing any other condition, regardless of how remotely unconnected to the gut it may appear”
Simple Steps to a Better Digestion and Lose the Bloat
Step 1: Drink more water
Step 2: Keep meals reasonable in size
Step 3: Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes = Lose the Bloat
Probiotics and digestive enzymes! These are key for digestion and losing the bloat! Since most of us now know and hear about the importance of probiotics, I’m not going too deep into this. Just to say, get a good one! Use a probiotic that you ‘feel’ the difference. When I included a good probiotic daily… hallelujah! BM’s everyday, lost the bloat and talk about feeling better! Amazing difference! Your probiotic should make you feel better. You can check out the probiotic I use here.
Step 4: Be Active!
Step 5: Reduce Stress
Step 6: Eat the Rainbow
Step 7: Maintain a healthy smile!
Step 8: Check in with your doctor
When I first started having serious problems, I went to the doctor and was officially diagnosed with IBS. Medication was suggested and the possibility of surgery was hinted for my future. I went home, changed my diet and started on the steps above. It took time and was a process. I went back to the doctor about 10 years ago just for a check in. He was amazed and told me to “keep doing what I’m doing because it’s obviously working.” I knew it was working. I could feel it was working. I could see it was working. However, getting the confirmation that all was well is, well…a relief.
Let’s talk about Poo!!
We have to talk about poo because we want to feel sexy AND you can’t feel sexy if you don’t poo. So really poo is sexyI If you’ve had babies, you might remember the poo conversation over changing the diaper. Has the baby gone? Is it enough? What color? We call the doctor asking about the poo. Taking pictures and showing the doctor. Is it the right kinda of poo? Why do we obsess over baby poo? Because when babies don’t poo and poo often, they cry. They are in pain. Food needs to move and move often.
